Position Description:

Conscious Ventures Group, Inc. seeks a Policy Director to shape the policy and regulatory efforts of the Large-scale Solar Association (LSA) in the Western United states, promoting procurement opportunities and grid modernization efforts that support and advance the utility-scale solar industry.

Over the past eights years, LSA has served as the primary advocacy voice for utility scale solar in California. Through its successful efforts in legislative and regulatory forums and beyond, the market for utility scale solar in the West has increased exponentially. LSA’s member companies represent leaders in the industry who share a common understanding of the opportunities and issues facing the industry, as well as a deep appreciation for the need to meet the climate challenge head-on.

Conscious Ventures Group conducts climate-smart policy development and advancement, facilitation and consulting, and project development services in support of furthering state, regional and national clean energy and climate goals.

The Policy Director

Reporting to the Executive Director, LSA’s Policy Director will develop and implement policies to promote and integrate utility scale solar in California and the Western electricity markets. The Policy Director will play an influential role in engaging decision makers and stakeholders across government, utility and non-profit sectors to continue strong momentum towards a progressive and sustainable market that supports utility-scale solar.

The Policy Director will help to develop multi-year, strategic policy and advocacy engagement efforts at the regulatory level, with an eye on legislative opportunities that can help to bolster those efforts. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in electricity policy analysis and development. In addition to excellent writing skills and experience crafting regulatory comments and position papers, candidates will have a track record of developing advocacy strategies, with a background of working well with diverse constituencies.

A comprehensive understanding of wholesale western electricity markets is a must, with knowledge of integration issues, transmission and market mechanics. A good grasp of the utility-scale solar industry, the retail electricity sector - including DER - and the storage sector will help to balance out the knowledge set.
