GW Hosts Solar Financing Seminar

SEIA Seminar
December 16, 2016

On December 6 and 7, 2016, GW's Jack Morton Auditorium hosted over 200 of the solar industry's leading solar financiers, attorneys, and project developers who attended the Solar Energy Industries Association's (SEIA) Fall 2016 Finance & Tax Seminar. The GW Solar Institute participated and sponsored the event along with Hunton & Williams, Latham & Watkins, and Akin Gump.

SEIA’s Finance and Tax Seminar is the preeminent solar industry conference dedicated exclusively to the most impactful accounting, finance and tax issues facing the solar industry. The agenda included a number of introductory presentations on tax technical and financial issues, along with more advanced panels discussing trends in the industry.  Issues discussed included project debt and equity with a comparison of the various tax equity structures, a conversation on the tax challenges of energy storage, and an examination of current trends in solar financing.

Thanks to the Institute's participation, a number of GW students were able to able the event and learn more about the critical mechanics of getting solar projects built.

GW students also had the unique opportunity to participate in a Student & Young Professionals Breakfast Roundtable, giving them a chance to network and discuss career options in a small group setting with seasoned solar industry attorneys, developers, and financiers.

The event was so successful that SEIA is already working with GW to host another seminar on October 23 and 24, 2017.
