The US solar industry is growing so fast that new data collected on the industry is almost out of date as soon as it’s published.
The solar industry employs 208,859 American workers, according to the 2015 National Solar Jobs Census completed by The Solar Foundation in partnership with the GW Solar Institute. Solar employment grew by 19.9 percent over 2012, supporting a growth rate more than ten times the national average.
GTM Research and the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) project that over 6,500 megawatts of new solar will be installed in 2014 -- enough to power 1.5 million average American homes. This will add to the cumulative installed solar capacity for the United States of over 13,000 MW through 2013.
